Welcome to the Sea to Sky Women's Soccer website! We hope you have a great experience while with us.

Well, we have one year under our belts as Co-Presidents. Boy, did it go fast. As we approach our 2010 season, we must first re-cap what transpired last year. As always, we had a great turn-out for all Communities which was wonderful - once again we were able to field four teams, with two of those teams coming out of Whistler. Nothing like a little bit of friendly rivalry! However, at times, there were skeleton crews of teams, so we had to get creative and fill the teams with players from other Communities. Obviously, this is something that we anticipate happening on occasion, hence our large numbers of registrations per Community. To date, this doesn't seem to be an issue, but of course, we do encourage all of you to make as many games as possible to give your teams the best possible chance of fielding a full team.

The season went fast, we had nine weeks of fun-filled games and experienced playing on Quest Field for the first time which was fabulous. Once again, we will be playing at Quest for the 2010 season. We also played on Mother's Day for the first time, and the turn out was stellar. It may of had something to do with our game times, something we changed as well for the 2009 season - our inaugural 4pm and 6pm time slots were well recieved so we will keep them this year.

Also new in 2009 was the inception of our fabulous coach, Bernard. We agreed that our league needed coaches (and still does), female or male, so we avertised for any enthusiastic person who could put up with a bunch of crazy, happy, funny, twenty, thirty, forty and fifty somehing females. Oh, and of course, skilled. The experiment has gone very well to date and we are encouraging more individuals to give it a go....Squamish and Pemberton are the teams that are looking for coaching.

We can't forget that we also have a tournament team - the Avalanche - that entered into the Squamish tournament in April as well as the Kamloops and Victoria touranments in August and September. And, as always, the team did fabulous! They fared very well in Squamish, winning some money that went towards some very thirsty Sea To Sky Women Soccer players one hot, sunny day in Whistler. Thanks gals, that was good. The Kamloops tournament was out-right won by the Avalanche, for the third year in a row. What a great weekend that was! Check out the pictures in our gallery. And, because the ladies were on such a high from winning in Kamloops, they registered for the Victoria tournament in September. Even though the results were not what the girls were looking for, an awesome time was had by all! This year, the Avalanche will be playing in the Squamish and Kamloops tournaments again. Go girls go!

Even though our season is only nine weeks long, we did find a way to play every week until the end of September. This year will be no different, as the Whistler High School has been booked until the end of September for drop-in play. Everyone is welcome.

On a more serious note, we have had more resignations from our Board - Barb, our everthing lady for the website, marketing and secretary has stepped down to explore other adventures. Barb gave us years of awesome leadership and was nothing but a trooper over the years. Her dedication to our league as well as her vast knowledge has been invaluable to us. We wish Barb the best of luck in her future endevours. On a happier note, Jenn, one of our Discipline members has stepped down due to the impending birth of her first child. Good luck Jenn! Also, Sue who was responsible for our referees, has resigned to focus on her impending arrival of her first baby. Good luck to Sue! But, alas, we have some new faces on our Board: Jennie Helmer will be assuming the head discipline role and she will be rounding up a member from each Community to help her in this department. Welcome Jennie! And rumours have it, Jennie will also put the Secretary hat on. Stay tuned.

Overall, we believe that the league is going in the right direction. It is a pleasure to be a part of such a dynamic group of women and to be part of the great soccer that is being played. It is our goal to ensure that all groups of women, with varying degrees of playing ability will find our league a fun and safe place to want to play. We strive every year to be better that the last and look forward to what the 2010 season will bring us. ONWARDS!
